Attention Oster Volunteers
9/6/24, 3:15 PM
We're excited to announce an upcoming Informational Meeting for all volunteers interested in making a difference at Oster. Join us for coffee and empanadas on Friday, September 6th, at 8:15 AM to learn more about the various volunteer opportunities available this school year.
Attention Oster Volunteers!
During the meeting, we’ll cover job descriptions for key volunteer roles, including:
Enrichment Fund Members: Help raise funds to support enrichment programs like music, clay, PE lunchtime games, and field trips not covered by the State or District. Examples include arts, cooking classes, STEAM, art instruction, and sports.
International Night Lead: This event is scheduled for April 30th this year. It’s a fantastic evening where families showcase their culture by hosting a table, sharing traditions, and offering a dish from their country. It’s even more fun when multiple families from the same culture collaborate. Join us for an info night on January 25th from 6-7 PM in the Oster Teachers' Lounge.
Copy Parent Volunteers: Assist teachers and the Home & School Club by making photocopies for classroom and club activities.
Book Fair Volunteers: The book fair will be held the week of March 3rd this year! This much-anticipated event transforms the Media Center into a bookstore where students and families can purchase books. We rely on Oster families for setup, running the cash register, and cleanup.
Donation Matching Coordinator: Educate and guide families through the donation matching process, helping to maximize contributions through corporate matching programs.
Project Cornerstone Readers: Volunteer to read to students six times a year, sharing stories that promote positive self-esteem, problem-solving, and acceptance of differences.
Room Parents: Help organize classroom celebrations, volunteer for in-class activities like Art Vistas and Project Cornerstone, and support teacher appreciation efforts.
Walk-A-Thon Lead: The Oster Walk-A-Thon, also known as the Cougar Dash, will take place on Friday, April 25th! We need volunteers to help with planning and assist on the day of the event with tasks like marking laps, distributing water bottles, setup, cleanup, and more.
Yearbook Volunteers: Collect photos and organize a team to create a yearbook using an online design tool. Work with the yearbook company to put together the final product.
Mileage Club: Provide ongoing student supervision during lunchtime for about 30 minutes, helping students scan their mileage club badges as they complete laps. This occurs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
If you’re interested in any of these roles or simply want to learn more, we encourage you to attend the meeting. Your involvement makes a huge difference in our community!
